MUSIC VIDEO: Some improvisational euphony

When you wander off and see where the instruments take you. | August 10, 2025

ABOVE IS A THROUGH the TREES improvisation entitled 'EUPHONIA,’ from a band rehearsal on May 23, 2025, deep in the outback of Lincoln County, West Virginia, one warm Spring day. Sometimes, you just have to take a break from rehearsing gig set lists and refining familiar tunes in a band’s oeuvre. Instead, you head out into the terra incognito of the musical unknown. We happened to be rolling tape (well, iPhone electrons) and here was the result, turned into a music video which depicts heading down roads, pathways, and trails into parts unknown. The title is inspired by the word ‘euphony,’ which derives from the Greek euphōnia, from euphōnos, which means 'well sounding’ or having a pleasant sound.

The improv features RAY GARNETT on viola; DOUGLAS JOHN IMBROGNO on classical guitar; and JIM PROBST on lap dulcimer. You can also hear it on Youtube at this link. And, no, we most certainly did not intend the Youtube upload to run at the exact time of 4:20. Some of us don’t celebrate the famous cannabis culture shoutout anymore, yet we offer up “Euphonia” up as the soundtrack to whatever you are doing right now or at 4:20 p.m. or 4:20 a.m. today
